Be an advocate
State and National Advocacy
They are many ways to get involved with Beyond Pink TEAM advocacy efforts. Our involvement at a national level calls for many breast cancer advocates to contact our legislators when important issues come up in Congress. Occasionally, there are similar needs at the state level. Our advocacy leaders try to make it easy for even the least experienced amongst us to reach out at key times. We use social media to get the word out. Additionally, we provide email and phone contact information for each congressman/woman and typically even provide a draft of what you need to say. Social Media Advocacy We also need advocates who enjoy using social media to help out with our advocacy efforts. Because of its wide reach, social media can make a big impact on a congressional office’s decision to support our legislative priorities. Local Advocacy Locally, we need advocates to help with the planning of Ignite the Cancer Conversation, an annual event to educate our local community on cancer-related issues and innovations and to engage them in conversations that will help to bring an end to cancer. These conversations include preventative measures we can take individually and collectively in our communities as well as at the state and national levels. We also encourage participants to get involved with other community efforts to make our communities healthier places to live. Connect We would love to have you join our advocacy efforts. To learn more, connect with our Advocacy leaders: Christine Carpenter or Lori Seawel or complete our Contact Us form. |
